Penn State is known for its research activities in the fields of engineering, sociology computer science, psychology, and more. Ranked 50th among all national universities, Penn State is also globally ranked, often landing among the top best schools in the world. At TAMU you will explore both the theoretical and practical applications of forensic science.

And you will gain a sturdy foundation in the principles of investigation. You can even specialize in pre-law forensic science. The MSU campus is home to dozens of renowned research facilities, labs, and centers. George Mason University is nationally ranked by Forbes and U. Campus is comprised of numerous renowned research centers. While George Washington University may not offer a full forensic science program, they do allow students who major in chemistry to specialize in forensics.

The program observes a rolling admission policy so that individuals may apply at any time. Applicants will be considered for admission while openings remain available for the program. Students who apply early have a better chance of admission than those who apply later in the admission cycle; however, it is not uncommon for applicants to be notified throughout the year.

While all forensic science students are required to complete a research project, both thesis and non-thesis options are available. Thesis Option: The thesis option stresses a research component where students conduct original research and prepare, as well as defend, a written thesis based on their investigative findings. The thesis option often requires additional semesters to complete.

Non-Thesis Option: The research project associated with the non-thesis option is required of all forensic science students. Students electing the non-thesis option are required to successfully complete an applied research project during their summer internship which requires a research paper, as well as formal slide-based and poster presentations to be presented at regional or local meetings.

The committee composition for the non-thesis option is similar to the thesis option. The Forensic Science Program offers four areas of emphasis that students may complete to enhance the core curriculum. The student is required to complete at least one area of emphasis but may complete up to four. Completing multiple areas of emphasis is contingent on maintaining good academic standing while enrolled in the program.

All of our core courses contain separate lab sections where students hone their digital forensics and cybersecurity knowledge and skills. Students are able to take certification tests for both AccessData and Cellebrite forensic tools. MU DFIA Lab exercises focus on building discrete skills that culminate in realistic projects or scenario-driven problems requiring students to apply what they learned during the semester.

Our labs are either developed and delivered inhouse, or through National CyberWatch. National CyberWatch provides a virtualized lab environment and a wide variety of pre-built lab exercises. The program concludes with an intense capstone experience where students put their knowledge and skills to the test by working through challenging simulated cases, penetration tests, and real-world cybersecurity problems.

This capstone experience is designed to assess and reinforce the major learning objectives from their core courses. Information Assurance Certificate. Students Get Involved. Meet Marshall. Welcome to Marshall. Quick Facts. Our Community. President's Office.
