How to dim computer screen windows 7

User's post on October 31, I can assure you that I have adjusted my brightness and contrast appropriately. It is fine during the day or when I have a light on, but in total darkness, I would prefer to adjust the monitor brightness darker than what I am able to dim it to currently.

In reply to Chrispymuffin's post on August 3, I am having the exact same problem but mine dims to an unusable darkness when I plug it in to charge, and works normally when it is unplugged! In reply to JenniferSingh's post on August 11, Click on Power. I plugged my laptop in allowing it to dim in a matter of seconds to the point of being unuseable then on my keyboard I held down FN and the left arrow button that controls the brightness option looks like a little sun filled in and it worked!!
