After some testing it appears to take almost exactly 50 seconds to open a file every time. Make sure your DNS infrastructure is working as expected. Make sure the names referred in the namespace are quickly resolved. Make sure the DC referrals are happening as expected. Does the site of the users experiencing this have a local Domain Controller?
